Made: Sea Glass Art
Awaken your creativity & turn ocean treasures shaped by sea and time into unique framed keepsakes
Service Description
There is something quietly beautiful about sea glass. Once discarded and broken, years of waves, salt water and time soften sharp edges, transforming it into something shaped by nature into unexpected beauty. Join us for a peaceful afternoon of creativity, connection and mindful making as part of Made - our monthly craft and art club designed to bring people together through creativity, community and the simple wellbeing found in making something with your own hands. In this special workshop you will create your own framed sea glass artwork using a carefully curated collection of genuine Cornish sea glass, gathered from the beaches of Cornwall and shaped slowly by the ocean over many years. Tumbled by tides, weathered by time and carried by currents, every piece tells its own story. You will be provided with a beautiful wooden deep-set glass-fronted frame, quality card to work upon, driftwood and a collection of coastal treasures including shells and fragments of sea pottery to bring your design to life. Ideas and inspiration will be available throughout the session, but this is also an invitation to let creativity lead the way - creating something entirely your own. Whether you choose a coastal scene, a meaningful image, a whimsical design or something deeply personal, your finished piece will become a unique keepsake to take home. Sea glass begins sharp and broken, yet through time, movement and patience becomes something softened, resilient and beautiful. There is a beautiful poem called "I want to age like sea glass" by Bernadette Knoll - she weaves with words a lovely thought about sea glass."I want to age like sea glass. I want to enjoy the journey and let my preciousness be, not in spite of the impacts of life, but because of them. " Creating with our hands can calm the nervous system, improve mindfulness and gently guide us into a state of presence. Combined with creativity, community and a peaceful afternoon shared together, these moments have a quiet way of shifting energy and lifting spirits. Spend a Sunday afternoon creating something beautiful and perhaps leave carrying a little of the sea’s wisdom home with you. No experience is needed, only curiosity, openness and a willingness to try something new. Tea, homemade cake and refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon to keep you nourished as you create. Sunday 19th July 2 - 4pm £40 per person Made - creativity for wellbeing, one project at a time.
