Bookish
The new Yogi Sanctuary monthly book club
Service Description
Welcome to ‘Bookish’, a new monthly book club where literature and mindful living converge. In addition to practising the yogic philosophy of Svadyaya, which is centred around growth and transformation through reading and reflection, Bookish will host regular, literary-inspired experiences to enrich mind, body and soul, from film screenings and literary trips to opportunities to respond to books in holistic ways. Facilitated by ‘writing for wellbeing’ practitioner Sian Hughes, a local writer recently shortlisted for ‘Wales Book of the Year’, the first Bookish gathering will be a bring- your-own-book event in which participants will be invited to share their own favourite reads with others, and swap books. Sian’s ‘pick’ will be Maggie O’ Farrell’s memoir ‘I Am, I Am, I Am’, a collection of autobiographical essays full of courage, beauty, defiance, and hope. The session will wrap with a literary-inspired mindfulness challenge. We have kept the price of this regular event low at just £5 and it includes lovely mugs of tea or coffee. But bring some pennies on the day as for just £2.50 you can also enjoy a slab of delicious cake made fresh for us by Grey Rabbit Cakes, our wonderful cake maker here in Pentyrch. Numbers are limited to 12 so do book early to avoid disapointment. **** Sian Hughes is a writer and creative practitioner who regularly works in schools and community settings, designing and delivering holistic writing and reading programmes that improve the wellbeing of participants. Sian is currently working on her second collection of short stories, ‘Doll Skin’, after her debut short story collection ‘Pain Sluts’ was shortlisted for 2022 ‘Wales Book of the Year’. Sian lives in Creigiau with her family and other animals!

Cancellation Policy
Please arrive around ten minutes before your class is due to start. Access will not be possible until 15 minutes before the class start time in order to allow the previous class time to vacate the studio. We do not allow late access to class as the outside door will be closed to entry just before the class starts to protect peoples belongings in the reception area. Refunds will not be given if you are late and unable to attend the class. Block Booking cancellations can be made via the app with up to 24 hours notice. To cancel a single booking please contact me at least 24 hours in advance or you will not recieve the refund. I'm afraid refunds cannot be guaranteed if 24 hours notice is not given. Please park considerately and be mindful of our neighbours when leaving the studio. Please be respectful to your fellow yogis and teachers and ensure your behaviour does not affect their enjoyment of the class in anyway. This is a strict no shoes studio so please leave your shoes in the storage boxes inside the front door. Small lockers are provided for your valuables. But you might like to leave your bags in your car. We recommend bringing into the studio only what you need for class in order to keep space between the mats nice and clear. For yoga classes please bring your own mat if you have one, though we do have spares. All props will be provided but you might like to bring your own blanket for savasana. Special events / workshops cancellation: 100% refund if more than one weeks notice given, 50% refund in the event of 1 to 7 days notice given. No refunds issued in the event of cancellation within 24 hours of the event
