  • Ogmore-by-Sea Village Hall

Service Description

A series of workshops spread throughout the year. During each workshop, we will explore specific yoga poses, how they work best for your individual body and what we are trying to achieve with each pose. Practicing individual options, we will take a look at modifications to make the poses more accessible or challenging. We will also practice transitions helping you get comfortable with your body moving between poses and any complimentary poses that are often used in flows. The aim is to help you get more confident in your yoga practice, to help you get more from your time on the mat. We will also take a little dive down into an area of yoga philosophy during each workshop. And in doing so, help introduce to you the world of yoga both on and off the mat, helping cultivate awareness of your physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. And not forgetting the hugely beneficial world of pranayama / breathwork and meditation we will explore ways in which we can bring peace and calm into our lives whether on our mats, sat quietly at home, on a mountain top or in a traffic jam when you are in a hurry. This first workshp is "We Are Warrior" and will look at the five Warrior poses along with the most common complimentary poses and transitions that you might do within a flow class and we will discuss the first limb of yoga - The Yamas. Our second workshop is will be taking a look at "Your Spine" - folds, backbends, twists and side bends. We will look at poses that work the thorasic, lumbar and sacral areas and how our breath can help our connection to movement. This will include poses that are prone, supine, seated, standing and kneeling. Its a huge topic and one that will be so interesting. Philosophy will move onto the Niyamas Our third workshop looks at "Hips and Shoulders" and Philosophy wil move away from the 8 limbs and onto other areas including meditation practices. Places are limited in order to assure personal attention so book early. Although an all level class, an ability to get up and down off the floor is essential. Bring your own mat and a bottle of water. All other props will be provided and there will be refreshments on hand for you. Everyone leaves with a little workbook that will build over the year into a little yoga reference book for you.
